Biography

GOLDEN, Edith Glasscock passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at the age of 93. She was born in Weoka and was a resident of Montgomery, but spent much of her earlier life in Wetumpka. She was a graduate of Holtville High School and Troy State Teacher’s College (Troy University). Edith was a school teacher, homemaker and worked many years and retired from the State of Alabama Department of Public Safety. Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Ora Glasscock, brother Warren Glasscock and husband James Wilson Golden, all of Wetumpka. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Golden Cohee, Jean Golden Murrell (Charles) and Joan Golden McDonald (Winston). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Lisa Noble Blackmon (Kenny), Mike Noble (Lorri), Greg Murrell, Chris Murrell (Jan), Jeff Murrell (Kellie), and Jason Murrell. Also six great-grandchildren, Alex Blackmon, Abby Blackmon, Heath Woodruff, Cole Noble, Skye Murrell and Jaelyn Murrell. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At the time of her death, Mrs. Golden was a resident of Wetumpka Health & Rehab. Our thanks and appreciation go out to the staff and her physician, Dr. Spencer Coleman for the love and care shown to our mother. She will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Mike Noble, Greg Murrell, Chris Murrell, Jeff Murrell, Jason Murrell and Kenny Blackmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Moore, Mike Byrd and Heath Woodruff. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryce Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Wetumpka City Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
